A crown is a dental restoration that covers the entire tooth and replaces the outer layer of its enamel with new material. A crown is similar in shape and size to a natural tooth, and normally contacts the opposing tooth, allowing food to be chewed properly.
A bridge is a fixed partial denture: it is attached to the teeth, replaces some teeth, and uses one or more artificial teeth to replace the missing teeth. If there are functional teeth on either side of the missing tooth, a bridge is used to replace one or more teeth.
